President’s Scholarship for Applicants in Underdeveloped Nations
This scholarship is limited to applicants who:
- Live in underdeveloped nations, and who have little or no opportunity to meet standard NCIU fees.
- Have not had the opportunity to advance their formal education beyond the equivalent of U.S. twelfth grade, and who qualify to do the level of work we require.
The following programs are available under the President’s Scholarship:
- NCIU Diploma
- NCIU Bachelor
Note: The Vice President/Registrar and the Chief Academic Officer will determine which of these two programs are applicable to the individual.
At the discretion of the Vice President and Registrar, along with the Chief Academic Officer, the course curriculum may be modified to fit the cultural circumstances of the applicant. This will include consideration for Internet accessibility and equipment.
Scholarships will be awarded based on the applicant’s ability to pay. The fees for every applicant will be decided by consultation between the President and Vice President/Registrar. The range of an individual scholarship may vary, but because it is intended solely for those who could otherwise not afford to enroll, it may be granted on a sliding scale, up to 85% for the Diploma level course of study; and 70% for the B.A. course of study.
In exceptional cases, where the applicant is otherwise qualified, but due to the context in which he/she lives, has no ability to pay, at the President’s suggestion, and if the Board approves, the fees may be waived, except the $250 registration fee at the start of the studies and the $200 graduation fee at the end of the studies.
NCIU’s Scholarship Panel will assess all applications (including a Zoom interview) and recommend the two most promising applicants to NCIU’s Management Team, which will select the candidate with the greatest potential. This person will be informed and published on NCIU’s website.
This scholarship will be awarded once per year.

Research Scholarship for Majority World Students
NCIU proudly announces a research scholarship in the field of Contextualized Theology or Missiology for students in the majority world.
We recognize that, in the past, Western concepts and models were simply transplanted into different contexts where they did not fit. Especially different ways of thinking and communicating were unknown, ignored, or not researched.
Our scholarship is intended to redress this imbalance by offering suitably qualified majority world students the exciting opportunity to undertake original research. Its aim should be to bring about real change in the community of faith so that God’s Kingdom will be extended.
Application Criteria
- You must live in the Majority World.
- You must hold a religious Master’s degree.
Application Process
Please provide us with:
- Your CV.
- A letter of recommendation.
- A description of your ministry.
- For your research, preliminary title, abstract, originality, and contribution to theology/missiology of your proposed research (max. 500 words).
Email this information to our office by September 12.
NCIU’s Research Panel will assess all applications (including a Zoom interview) and recommend the two most promising applicants to NCIU’s Management Team, which will select the candidate with the greatest potential. This person will be informed and published on NCIU’s website by October 1.
The Registrar will dialogue with the new student to ascertain the most suitable doctoral program, mentor, and other supervisors on the research committee. The student will have to attend a Zoom viva.
Registrar’s Scholarship
At his discretion, the Registrar may grant a scholarship at a percentage of the total fees that reflects the applicant’s unique circumstances.
